Baby Teeth

Did you know it’s vital to take care of your baby’s mouth from the moment they’re born? Pave the way for a lifetime of healthy smiles by wiping their gums after feeding, brushing twice a day starting with the first tooth, and getting them to the dentist by their first birthday!

Cavity-causing bacteria can grow in babies’ mouths, so parents need to wipe their gums twice a day with a soft, clean cloth. Wipe their gums in the morning after the first feeding and again right before bed.
When the first tooth arrives, brush the tooth with a baby toothbrush. Brush your baby’s teeth twice a day with a soft toothbrush and just a smear of fluoride toothpaste, the size of a grain of rice.
When babies turn one or when the first tooth appears, start taking them to the dentist twice a year. Starting that routine early in life gets them on track for good oral health as they grow up!
Ask the dentist to apply sealants to your child’s back teeth, which are called molars. Sealants are thin coatings that protect molars from the bacteria that cause cavities.
